The following is some helpful information and guidelines for getting a purity group started in your community. If you have questions or would like additional help please contact us.

Standard Purity Group Timeline

(used by Be Broken's Iron Circle support groups)

Activity & Timeframe

Introduce the vision for reaching the sexually broken to the leadership in your church (i.e. senior pastor, elders, etc.)

The church leadership needs to be aware of your intentions to minister to those in the congregation struggling with sexual sin. You also need the spiritual "covering" of the leadership in your church.

Recruit various church members, friends, and family to commit to pray for the group regularly

You need a team of committed individuals who have a heart for prayer and your vision of helping the sexually broken. Ask this prayer team to pray for the group's growth, its effectiveness, and its protection. Provide regular updates, praises, and prayer requests to your prayer team (creating an email list is an easy way to keep track of this). Prayer is vitally important to the long-term success of your group. There is power in prayer to change lives!

Establish a leadership team

The continuance and growth of your group is largely affected by your leadership team. We suggest having the following positions in place before launching your group (or at least very soon afterwards):

Facilitator - this person is the primary group leader and "face" of the group to the church. Acts as a sort of spokesperson for the group to the church leadership and is responsible for leading each group session. Needs to have good people skills, at least one year of consistent sexual purity, and the ability to teach in a group setting.

Greeter/List Manager - this person is responsible for greeting new attendees and keeping the group member contact list updated (this is the list of all group members and their phone numbers). Should have an engaging personality and enjoy meeting new people. This position can be rotated through various other men in the group who would like to volunteer.

Small Group Leaders - these individuals facilitate small group discussion during "check in" time. They should have at least 6 months of consistent sexual purity and the ability to manage small group discussions. Small group leaders need to meet regularly with the group facilitator to maintain accountability and provide small group reports.

Work with church leadership to establish meeting time(s), location, and coordination with existing ministries

Effective groups will not conflict with other ministry times and locations that might be similar (i.e. men's Bible studies). Be sure the group meeting location and time are reasonable.

Share! Share! Share!

Spread the word about your purity group. Advertise the group throughout your church publications and on campus bulletin boards. Visit Sunday School classes and announce the group. Just keep the word out there that a ministry is available to help those struggling with sexual temptation.

If you have questions or just need support in getting your group up and running please feel free to contact us at 1.800.49.PURITY or email us online.
